Food For Thought retreat experience
We’re thrilled that you’re curious about our Food For Thought retreat experience, where we will explore the theme: ”What Do You Hunger For?”
Our retreats are our imaginative response to caretaking—exercising our creative muscles and using natural resources to mentally massage the minds, bodies, and souls of others. We welcome guests to move from the headspace into embodiment through sustenance and storytelling, two potent tools for reawakening the senses.
Theme and Purpose
This retreat invites you to delve into the narratives that shape our lives and communities. Over the weekend, we’ll weave together culinary experiences in our communal kitchen, with various forms of storytelling, fascia-inspired movement, and restful, quality time on the stunning Hermelin’s Farm in an intimate community.
Culinary Experience
We are delighted to announce that the inspiring initiative Mise en Place will take the lead as the creative charge in the kitchen for this upcoming Food For Thought Harvest Season Retreat.
Mise en Place is a dynamic culinary movement born out of a desire to connect with a global community of creative minds who challenge the status quo. It brings people together through food-centered events, fostering the exchange of ideas and mutual inspiration for action in both personal and communal endeavors. Rooted in a deep need for healing and hope, Mise en Place embraces the belief that we can shape our experiences despite life’s challenges and imperfections. Rejecting the pursuit of perfection, it celebrates life’s simple pleasures, using the joy of food as a catalyst for freedom, fulfillment, and meaningful connections.
This retreat, set from September 26 to September 28 at the tranquil Hermelin’s Farm in Skänninge, Sweden, will be a vibrant celebration of creativity, connection, and healing. With Mise en Place guiding us from meal to meal, we will nourish our bodies and souls as we engage in these shared experiences of sustenance and storytelling.
What to Expect
Interactive Storytelling
Explore various forms of storytelling, writing prompts, journaling, poetry, ecolinguistics, and movement. We’ll reflect on how stories shape our understanding of the world, as well as how they have the power to help us better understand ourselves and our place in the world.
Movement Practice
Experience Fascia Vinyasa, a practice that integrates the fluidity of movement with the stability of nature, connecting our physical form with the rhythms of the Earth.
Culinary Arts
Engage in creative and communal cooking led by Mise en Place, where we prepare and enjoy food that reflects our relationship with the land and our responsibility for sustainable living.
Hermelin’s Grönsaker is a certified organic vegetable farm in Skänninge, Sweden, growing over 30 varieties of vegetables. The Hermelin family has lived on the farm for nearly 40 years. The newest addition to the land is the Red Greenhouse.
The Red Greenhouse is a cottage-inspired residence, an intimate and newly renovated house overlooking the farmland that accommodates 6-8 guests.
Amenities include
• A greenhouse
• An outdoor kitchen with a dining area
• A pool and sauna with indoor & outdoor showers
• Three root-vegetable-themed double bedrooms with private bathrooms
• An industrial kitchen
• Multiple communal sitting areas
• a private ”hen house” in the backyard
Not to mention… acres of land, along with their family-owned grocery store and coffee shop down the way. This bright and welcoming residence is what inspired our retreat concept to begin with and feels like home from the moment you step foot inside.
By attuning ourselves to the harmony, balance, and grace that define our inner and outer landscapes, we understand that we are not separate from the world but part of its intricate tapestry.
Join us in the food for thought that comes with it.
